A rather dry, impossible book at times, but I remember it quite clearly and vividly now, a decade after I first read it. Take that as a sort-of recommendation. The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Leguin: a strange science-fictional journal-book pushing the boundaries of biology and gender. Good stuff. Kemmer, anyone?
